Solid take. It feels like some of these people never got out of 8th grade. It ought to be possible to support your athlete without torturing others.

In some ways it's a legit debate - because everyone sees things differently, like a slugger vs. pitcher in baseball, or people just have their favorite player for any number of a variety of reasons. It just doesn't mean you have to hate the other one.

Eager for the memoir.

I feel you on the Packers-Bears comments, I get the same as a Packers fan here in MN. Reese and Clark are both so much fun to watch, though I really do root for Clark during their matchups.

I follow the Lynx closely and am appalled at the misogynistic comments by men after a game. It’s most annoying when they post a criticism, comparing the W to the NBA, and follow that with saying it’s just a waste of time to watch the women play. Yet, they do.

It actually makes sense to have a favorite - but it makes no sense to be awful about it. Since the first days of social media I will never understand the motivation of people who feel compelled to comment on something they purportedly don't watch or care about just to spew hate. OK, I understand the motivation - hate of some sort - I just can't fathom why anyone would go to all the effort. It's a rush for them, no doubt.

I also think part of what has made some haters crazy about Caitlin Clark is that what she does best are skills that are non-gendered - outside shooting and passing. Hater dudes can't use dude-ness to feel superior about those skills and their main talking point gets taken away. Can't talk about superior strength. Can't talk about dunking. Their ammo gets taken away. Sucks to be them, I guess.

Thank you. I admire and respect and enjoy both Angel and Caitlin. Both are tough and talented and work hard. The WNBA is a great antidote to a current political attempt to revive misogyny.

When I see tabloid-type headlines about a rivalry, I delete them as trash.

yes, my phone just feeds me these click-bait stories on that very topic (all from the same site, too). You read the legit stuff and still end up with the trash.
