Great column, Jane! Has an arena full of people ever been so united in joy over a game that meant so little? Even the opposing players and coaches were happy -- thrilled is a better description -- asking for (and getting) their own photos with Caitlyn Clark. What a day! You captured it so well.

Caitlin continues to entertain and impress in amazing ways. Could it have been better scripted that the first play for the Fever was Caitlin coming off a staggered on-ball screen for a signature, step to her left, 3-pointer? Then her last shot was the "logo 3" from beyond where her record setting three was shot! The way she can deliver is simply mesmerizing!

Love this so much. I had pretty much given up on basketball, because I'm not a fan of th NBA version, and the Hawkeye men have been struggling. We grew interested in the women's program during the Megan Gustafson era. Caitlin and company raised it to a new level. My wife, who was never a sports fan, is now a rabid Hawkeye and Fever fan. So am I. Very few people can change the trajectory of a sport, but Caitlin did just that. Your story captured it all perfectly.

I'm glad your friends appreciated it! I once tried to be Sherpa for friends in France--wanted to gently guide them the way you guided your pals in Iowa City.

It didn't go so well.
